There was good news for Roscommon town this morning as it has been ranked seventh cleanest town in Ireland in the 2015 Irish Business Against Litter “Anti-Litter League” Survey.
Roscommon town has also been classified as cleaner than the European norm; a title also give to 10 of the other 40 towns surveyed. The placing signifies a consistent improvement over the past few years and serves as another sign of endorsement for the local tidy towns and community groups. The town ranked eighth in last year’s survey, which was big jump from the 16th place in the 2013 survey.
As part of the IBAL Anti-Litter League, An Taisce monitors towns independently and in accordance with
international grading standards. The programme is run in conjunction with the Department of the Environment, Community and Local Government.
