The race to take the Roscommon County Council seat vacated by Senator Maura Hopkins has officially begun following the close of nominations by Fine Gael last night.
Two former County Councillors, Liam Callaghan and Charlie Hopkins are among the nominees as is former Boyle Town Councillor Jan Flanagan. Current Roscommon Galway Constituency Secretary for Fine Gael Linda Doorly, from Tarmonbarry, is also nominated as is Ballaghaderreen business woman and party activist Anne Higgins.
Local Fine Gael Members will be entitled to vote to elect the successor to Maura Hopkins at a Convention which will take place in the Percy French Hotel, Strokestown on Monday June 13th.
