It has been another busy week at Carrick Golf Club, with internal competitions and on the inter-club scene.
Cryans Hotel Stroke
Andy Connellan shot a superb 64 to win The Cryans Hotel stroke on Sunday last May 15. Runner up was Kevin Sheeran with an equally fine 66, 5 players shot 69 but Pat Conlon had the best taking third place and of the 7 players who shot 70 Sean Bohans 70 was best, not the best nett but his 78 gave him the gross prize.
Inter Club Golf
The Inter Club Season has got off to a great start with both Cecil Ewing & Seniors having good wins in their opening round matches against Strandhill who were beaten 4-1 by Sean Gilmartins Cecil Ewing Team, Next match V County Sligo was played on Friday last May 19 and another fine win over The Rossespoint links club by 3.5 to 1.5. Home wins by Kevin Ward & Declan Loftus 4/3, Ollie Curran & John Moffatt also by 4/3 put Carrick 2-0 up but a win away was needed to progress and it came from Gerry McDermott & Kieran Oates on the 20th hole to give Carrick the match, the other teams away Michael Keville & Leo Kavanagh lost 4/3 and Seamus Sweeney & James Connors halved.
On Wednesday last, May 18th, the Senior Inter club team had a fine 5-0 win over Ballaghaderreen, John Moffatt’s charges won 3 at home & two away Noel McDermott & Tom Daly won 7/6 Leo Mulvey & Frank McGrath won 4/3 Albert Hogg & Jim King won 4/3 away Johnny Martin & Tommy Aherne won 4/3 Pat Gannon & Pat King won 1up. Next up for Seniors Strandhill away.
Well done also to the Ladies Minor Cup team who had a great win over Roscommon winning 3-2 on Thursday 20 May.
Grafters Hair Studio Stableford
With 35pts Carmel Stritch has her first win of the season. She is followed in second by Ann Keenan (33pts) with Attracta O’Connor also 33pts in third.
Carrick Golf Club Summer Draw
We have a 55 inch Sony smart tv up for grabs this summer in our summer draw, tickets are Eur3 each or two for €5. Tickets on sale in clubhouse.
Fixtures
There’s another busy week ahead on the inter club scene with the Mixed Team against County Sligo today, Wednesday May 25th and on May 30th it’s the Pierce Purcell V Ballaghaderreen.
This week’s Ladies competition is the D&D Insurance Stableford. If rain holds off, the course should be playing well for some good scores!
