On Saturday last Carrick RFC Minis, Under 8s to Under 12s, travelled to Claremorris RFC for their second last away blitz of the season.
Some teams were slightly under strength on a day where conditions were ideal for rugby. This didn’t deter the players that had travelled and they entertained their families and supporters with free flowing rugby.
Our thanks to Claremorris RFC for hosting an excellent blitz and for their generosity in providing post blitz food and goodies for all that travelled. The following is a round-up of how the teams fared.
Under 10’s
Well done to the Carrick U10s who won both their games against the Claremorris 1st and 2nd teams. There was great effort from all the players, with some excellent teamwork creating a number of outstanding tries. It also showed great improvement from the players as we lost to Claremorris in our home blitz.
Under 11’s
On the day Carrick U 11’s fielded 9 Carrick players but these were then supplemented by 3 Dunmore players eager to get some game time. In a game that was very much tit for tat, both sides swapped tries throughout the early exchanges. However in the 3rd quarter Carrick started to dominate the exchanges with direct running and some fierce tackling and rucking. This provided them with the ideal platform to spread the ball wide running some well worked tries in the corner. Well done to all players for such an entertaining game and our thanks to the Dunmore lads for playing with us on the day.
Under 12’s
We only had six players that were able to make it to Claremorris and a big thank you to all that travelled. Thanks to Claremorris who gave us six players and we are so proud of our lads who gelled seamlessly with them and got on with the job. The determination and grit shown by our players was second to none and everyone of them should be proud of themselves. Ball handling, rucking and ball presentation were excellent. Well done to all.
