Hundreds of Galway runners have already signed up to the event, and a final call has been issued for participants to register ahead of the deadline for online entries on Thursday, September 1st at midnight.
The event gives runners the unique opportunity to experience Galway Racecourse from a whole new perspective. To celebrate its inaugural year in Galway, a special 2 for 1 offer has been announced for runners to take to the field, and complete the 5k with a friend at no extra cost.
The Vhi A Lust for Life Run Series was set up in 2015 with the aim of bringing people together through exercise to create awareness around mental health. A Lust for Life ambassador Niall ‘Bressie’ Breslin will be on hand at the event to address the crowd, and join runners as they embark on the racecourse.
Speaking today, the Blizzards frontman said, ‘We kicked off this year with a Vhi A Lust for Life run in the Phoenix Park in Dublin. It was great to see so many people turn out and embody our message, which is to put your mental health on the map. I have seen first-hand what running and exercise can do for the mind, and I’m excited to bring the run to Galway for the first time.’
Proceeds from the event go towards Aware, which is A Lust For Life’s chosen charity partner for this event, and to local athletics clubs in the area.
