14 Listed Buildings in Roscommon to benefit from funding

The Minister for Arts, Heritage, Regional, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs, Heather Humphreys TD, has announced that 14 Listed Buildings in Roscommon have been allocated funding under the Built Heritage Investment Scheme and Structures at Risk Fund.

Overall 569 heritage projects nationwide will share in a €4.8 million investment package. €3.5 million is being made available under the Built Heritage Investment Scheme 2017 and €1.3 million is being made available under the Structures at Risk Fund 2017 to allow for the conservation and repair of protected structures across the country.
11 Listed Buildings in Roscommon are to receive a share of €60,000 from the Built Heritage Investment Scheme.
– A 17th Century Church at Strokestown Park has been allocated almost €10,000 for the stabilisation of masonry while Rockingham COI Church, Lough Key Forest Park, Boyle is to receive over €9,200 and Moylurg House, Croghan has been allocated over €9,300 – all for the same purpose.

– Boyle Courthouse is to receive over €9,500 for Roof repairs.

– St Nathy’s Cathedral, Ballaghaderreen (€9,300) and Archbold House, Elphin (€3,400) have both been allocated funding for the repair/replacement of Rainwater goods.

– Kiltullagh Parish Church of Ireland, Ballinlough is to receive over €9,000 for the conservation/protection of historic window glass.

– Kiltoom House has been allocated almost €6,200 for exterior weathering works

– Hollywell House, Cortober is to receive almost €6,200 for Window repairs

– St. Josephs RC Church, Ballyforan has been allocated over €4,600 to arrest structural decay as a result of water/moisture ingress

– Noel McKearney, Cortober is set to receive €2,500 for insulation and the repair of an historic door.

Three buildings are to receive money under the Structures at Risk Fund.
€19,000 has been allocated to St Thomas’s Church, Kilronan (Glebe, Keadue), €8,000 to Knockranny House, Keadue while Rockingham Church of Ireland Church, Lough Key Forest Park is also set to receive €8,000.

In welcoming the news Minister Denis Naughten said

“The announcement today is not only good news for the heritage value of Roscommon and our magnificent protected structures but it will also provide a real jobs boost in the construction and conservation sectors in County Roscommon. Local tourism is also set to benefit”.
