Roscommon Raiders Basketball Club currently has a vacancy for a Head Coach to run the next training term and an assistant coach – in order to comply with the one coach per 8 players guideline.
The age group ranges from 8 years to 13 years of age with the majority over 11 years of age. The club will be using the Kilbride Community Centre for training as it is the best location for everyone involved with the club.
Previous experience isn’t essential but both coaches must be Garda-vetted and have completed the Safeguard 1 Child Protection course. Roscommon Sport Partnership have dates set for the next Safeguarding courses for the end of this month. The club will be willing to pay the course fee for both coaches. The roles are voluntary and without sponsorship as it would be very difficult to pay Coaches in addition to paying fees for competitions etc. All is open for discussion at the same time.
Currently we are without a coach and the third term won’t start until we find two coaches to manage the next term. All paperwork will be done by the committee, so the coaches can focus completely on the training and development of the team. The club has plenty of basketball equipment and good online presence through our website and on our social media pages on Facebook and twitter to help promote the clubs activities.
The chosen coaches can decide:
How long the term will run? (term 1 was 12 weeks and term 2 was 8 weeks),
Will the team enter any competitions?
What age group(s) the club will organise?
Maximum number of players per age group(s)?
What day and time is training?
