There were a number of Roscommon and District Football League “catch up” games during the winter break. Vincent Brooks looks back on the action.

Premier Divisions Champions Castlerea Celtic travelled to Ballinasloe and came away with all three points from their game against the title chasers. As a result Castlerea Celtic are nine points behind the leaders Ballymoe F C but with a game less played. Ballinasloe are a further point behind with a game less played than the leaders. Peter Farrell and Jarlath Geraghty scored for the winners in the last five minutes of the first half. Ballinasloe Town had Garry Egan sent off for two bookings but did manage to pull a goal back with just three minutes of normal time remaining thanks to a Peter Keighery Penalty kick

Loughglynn United beat Glen Celtic 5 – 4 in a nine goal thriller at Glenamaddy. The winners were 4 – 1 up with ten minutes left to play. Glen Celtic fought back to level the game but Christopher Dunne got a winner in injury time. Barry Nolan had earlier scored three and Shane Jordan one for the winners with William Comer getting two and Simon Siwarskey and Michael Heneghan getting one each for the Glenamaddy side.
