Roscommon Train Station could have a new Taxi Rank if a proposal by Roscommon County Council is approved by Irish Rail.
Councillors from the Roscommon Municipal District area signed off on the plans earlier this week and the application is set to be submitted to Irish Rail shortly.
Michael Fitzmaurice TD has welcomed the news adding that “hopefully it can become a reality soon. “This is a matter that I have been working on for the past 18 months and I held a number of meetings with Iarnrod Eireann on the matter in that time. Last week I expressed my frustration that nothing was happening on this issue but thankfully sense has prevailed and hopefully we will see a taxi rank at the Roscommon Train Station very soon. It is something that is badly needed and will not cost a lot of money to put in place” he concluded.
