Oran GAA win Digital Clock and Scoreboard courtesy of EirGrid!

Oran GAA

Oran GAA has won a digital clock and scoreboard worth €6,000 in a competition run by the GAA’s Official Timing Sponsor EirGrid.

This fantastic prize comprises the delivery and installation of a top-of-the-range, LED, digital clock and scoreboard with a radio controlled handset to manage the score from anywhere in the ground. This will be an invaluable asset for Oran GAA.
A winner from each province was drawn at Croke Park by EirGrid Director of External Affairs, Rosemary Steen and Uachtarán Chumann Lúthchleas Gael, Aogán Ó Fearghail.

This competition marks EirGrid’s continuing commitment to its GAA sponsorship portfolio. As well as being the GAA’s first ever official timing sponsor, it has also sponsored the EirGrid GAA Football U21 Football All-Ireland Championship for the past two seasons and also sponsored last year’s EirGrid International Rules Series.

There were a total of 147 entries for the competition. 47 entries came from Munster, 43 from Leinster, 31 from Ulster and 26 from Connacht.

Speaking at the EirGrid digital clock and scoreboard draw, Uachtarán Chumann Lúthchleas Gael Aogán Ó Fearghail said;

“Today is the culmination of a fantastic competition that EirGrid made available to our club network nationwide. The level of interest shown by our GAA clubs reflect the fantastic opportunity made available to them by EirGrid and I look forward to visiting the grounds of the lucky winners to see their scoreboards in operation.

“This competition further underlines the great commitment we continue to receive from EirGrid which has been hugely supportive of the association through its sponsorship of the International Rules Series, GAA Football U21 Championship and most recently having become our official GAA Timing sponsor.

“I’d like to personally issue a míle buíochas to Rosemary Steen and all at EirGrid for their ongoing and proactive support of the GAA.”

Speaking on behalf of Oran GAA, Mark Lawless said:

“Oran GAA Club is situated in a small rural parish in mid Roscommon. Sport is the heartbeat & lifeblood of the area, which we feel is hugely important for body & mind both on & off the field. We are very proud of our pitch and grounds and much effort is taken to ensure it is in top condition, grass cut, flowers sown, dressing rooms painted, etc. but a new top of the range EirGrid digital clock and Scoreboard would be the crowning glory of the grounds and make it the top venue we know it to be!”

Rosemary Steen commented;

“We were delighted by the number of entries to the competition and I’d like to thank all who entered. We hope this further strengthens our ties with the GAA communities around the country.”
