There may not have been any matches there during the summer but there has been plenty of action on the Hyde Park pitch this summer.
Just over three months ago GAA President Aogan Ó Fearghail performed the a sod turning ceremony in Hyde Park. Since then, as the images below show, a lot has happened. The old sod was removed in July. In August work on perimeter and lateral drains and the surface water outflow system began. More recently the sand based sub surface was put in place.
Next week, weather permitting, the rolls of playing turf will be transported from England and laid.
The next stage will see a new fence being erected around pitch. The completed Hyde Park pitch will be “handed over” to Roscommon GAA ahead of the county’s first Allianz Football League game in February.
