“Supercrop1” wins National Award for local company

Supercrop1, designed and manufactured by Acres Machinery, Athlone Road, Roscommon has been named “Machine of the Year” at the National Ploughing Championships.

Supercrop1 is designed to reduce the time and costs involved in the wilting process of hay and silage by combining three processes. It was formally launched at the National Ploughing Championships on Tuesday and has attracted enquiries from all over the world since.

Acres Machinery is no stranger to Awards. Last year the company won the Enterprise Ireland Innovation award for Best Agri-Engineering start-up Business at the National Ploughing Championships.

Company Founder Davie Doran is a Mechanical Fitter and Designer by trade. He has previously developed the “X3” Bale Handler, which provides a more efficient way to handle bales and “Vis-bar” provides for better visibility and a safer environment around tractor mounted equipment.

Davie and brother Tommy, also run the well known “Doran Bros” machinery hire, sales and contracting businesses.
