The 39th Annual Elphin Show will be held at the Elphin Mart Premises this Saturday September 3rd.
The event will be officially opened at 12pm by Macra na Feirme President Seán Finan. It features classes for Cattle, Sheep, Cookery, Farm & Garden Produce, Horses, Ponies, Pets and Poultry, Handcrafts and Photography and there is a Prize Fund of €35,000 on offer.
Highlights will include a number of All-Ireland competitions:
– Pedigree Charolais Baby
– Continental Male/Female Calf
– Male And Female Puppy
– Jack Russell
– Duck Or Drake
– Treacle Bread
In addition there will be Trade Stands and the DJ Scruffy Duffy Entertainment Show with Cartoon Characters. From 2pm there will be a number of novelty events including, Bonny Baby Competition, the “Little Miss” and “Little Master” competitions, the Parent & Child Look-alike and Miss Teen. There will also be a Fancy Dress Competition and prizes for Most Glamorous Granny, Most Appropriately Dressed Lady and Best Dressed Gentlemen.
An Bothar Rua is the venue for the Show Dance on Saturday night. The event, which is set to get under way at 9:30pm, features the selection of the Show Queen and the winner will receive €500. There will be live music on the night from Carmel McLoughlin.
