Councillor Domnick Connolly has welcomed a number of recent developments at Roscommon Hospital but has called on Saolta to provide additional parking at the facility.
Speaking earlier the Independent Councillor said “I want to welcome the opening of the community based mental health initiative – the REGARI Recovery College at Roscommon Hospital recently by Minister Helen McEntee. This initiative will be a great addition to the mental health services in Roscommon and East Galway. I also want to warmly welcome the opening of the new Endoscopy Unit at Roscommon Hospital which takes place in the coming week. Anything that adds to activity at Roscommon Hospital is very welcome. I would also like to hear from Minister Harris the up to date position with regard to the proposed Rehab Unit at the Hospital. He could use his appearance at the hospital this week to make a statement on the matter”
On the matter of parking problems at the Hospital Cllr Domnick Connolly said “I have been contacted by local residents in the area of Roscommon Hospital to highlight the parking problems at that location and I want to call on the HSE and Saolta to provide additional parking spaces in the vicinity of the hospital as soon as possible. People are parking illegally and blocking residents on an almost daily basis and the situation cannot continue.”
With the new Endoscopy Unit about to open (to full capacity) there will be even more activity at the hospital, and I am calling on the powers that be to provide additional car parking close to the hospital for patients, staff and visitors” he concloded.
