The U16 Boys had a comprehensive win over St Croan’s in their D4 Championship game on Sunday. The lads played well winning out on a scoreline of 3-13 to 0-5, with the St Barry’s/Kilglass goals coming from Emmett Burke, Callum Kidd, and Oisin Fallon. The lads now advance to the knock-out stages of the competition.
Team:Ray Leonard, Eoin Murphy, Adam Coggeran, Alan Mcguinness, Thomas Mahedy, Fiacra Leavey, Ciaran McVeigh, John Gaffney, Eoin Diffley, Callum Kidd, Emmett Burke, Oisin Fallon, Conor Murphy, John McLoughlin, Mark Gaynor.

The U14 Girls had a busy week as their Division 2 Championship campaign got underway. On Tuesday they had a narrow win over St Dominic’s. Trailing by double scores (2-4 to 1-2) at half time, the girls fought hard in the second half, and late goals from Chloe Rogers and Edel Beirne put the Barry’s girls four points up. A well taken goal from Dominic’s closed the gap to the minimum, but a strong team defence from the Barry’s girls held firm to secure a narrow win. Final score St Barry’s 4-3 St Dominic’s 3-5.

On Sunday they faced Strokestown in a local derby. The girls put in a massive performance and were 5 points ahead at half time on a score line of 2-4 to 5 points,in spite of missing some players and facing physically stronger team. Strokestown got on top in the second half, with the aid of the wind and the some questionable decisions by the officials. Final score Strokestown 2 -13 St Barrys 2-6

Intermediate Championship game postponed

As a mark of respect to the late Mrs Philomina Casserly, mother of St Barry’s player Philip, the Intermediate Championship game fixed for last weekend was postponed. As a result of other group games, St Barry’s have secured their Intermediate status for next year, with an outside chance still of securing a Quarter Final place if we can secure a big win over Eire Og in the re-fixed game, which is likely to be played this Saturday(TBC).
