Ladies Round-up
It was a very successful week on the pitch for the ladies club winning all three games down for decision.
Firstly congrats to our senior ladies who put in a brilliant performance to beat neighbours Strokestown in round 4 of the championship last Monday evening in Strokestown. Kilbride dominated from the throw in and had scored 1-06 before Strokestown registered their first score midway through the first half. Tara Taylor was causing havoc at full forward and scored four of the first half points before she had to retire due to injury. Niamh Shangher scored a great goal having picked up a breaking ball and soloed through the opposition planting the ball in the back of the net . Kilbride led by seven at the half way mark 1-07 to 0-03. An early second half goal by Strokestown was soon cancelled out when Siobhan Tully was taken down as she was through on goal and Casey Keane cooly converted the resulting penalty , Kilbride dominated the rest of the half with some well taken points . Superb defending by the backs made life very difficult for Strokestown who only managed to score one further point in the half. Final score 2-12 to 1-04. Well done to the whole team and management on a great result. Thanks also to the large support who travelled to cheer on the girls .
Best wishes to Tara Taylor and Alice Kelly who picked up injuries during the match. The team are due to play the last round of the championship next weekend with a home game against St Brigids. Date and time tbc.
