Athleague based County Councillor Ivan Connaughton, was elected Chairperson of the Galway and Roscommon Education and Training Board (GRETB) at their recent meeting, which was held in Ros Muc.

An Comh. Cathal Ó Conchúir, an elected member of Galway City Council, was elected Deputy Chairperson of GRETB.
Councillor Ivan Connaughton will now preside over the twenty-one member board which has oversight over the service provided by approximately 1,500 staff, to over 20,000 learners, with an annual budget of almost €100 million. Abbey Community College in Boyle, Elphin Community College and Roscommon Community College are among the Schools which come under the remit of the Board.
