Athlone Town take to the road this Friday 13th may when they travel to the Markets Field where high flying Limerick will be their challenge.
Last weekend Athlone Town lost out 1-2 to Drogheda United in Athlone Town Stadium despite taking a 1-0 first half lead. This game followed a 2-1 away defeat to Shelbourne the previous Friday.
Limerick on the other hand hold a 100% record this season after putting together a full time squad capable of Premier Division football. Despite this record they are now suffering a bit of an injury crisis and teams will be hoping with a number of team changes they may be although unlikely be close to dropping some points.
When the teams met earlier in the season it was Limerick who scored 5 without reply in Athlone Town Stadium.
The clubs have met on 60 occasions since 1997 with Athlone Town winning 13, Limerick winning 31 with 16 ending in draws. Over that period Limerick have scored 100 goals and Athlone Town 64.
Alan Mathews has no suspensions to report but will be without Val Feeney who cannot play due to his loan agreement while David Cassidy and Conor Barry are also be likely to miss out due to hamstring injuries suffered in last weekend’s loss to Drogheda.
Kick off the Markets Field is scheduled for 7.15pm.
