Clann na nGael
U-16 Division 1 League Final Clann na nGael 6-6 St. Brigids 3-6

On a beautiful Friday evening last in a well prepared Kiltoom pitch Clann na nGael U-16s were pitted against their neighbours and close rivals St. Brigids in the 2016 U-16 Div 1 League Final.
Both teams had no excuse as the weather was perfect for good open football and the game didn’t disappoint in that way.
Clann na nGael opened the scoring with two points in the opening 5 mins but then were very much on the back foot for the next 10 to 15 mins or so as St. Brigids dominated and hit their neighbours for 2-2 to hold a deserved lead after first third of the game.
However this Clann na nGael team are nothing if not resilient and they took over for the closing 10 mins and hit back with 4 goals and a point to lead by 4-3 to 2-2 at half-time.
The second half was a much more cagey affair with scores hard to come by. However try as they might the lads from Kiltoom/Cam & Curraghboy were unable to eat into Clann’s lead who did enough throughout the half to keep their neighbours at arm’s length to run out winners by 6-6 to 3-6 in the end.
It was a good game of football with some very honest endeavour showed by players on both sides.
Clann na nGael would like to wish a speedy recovery to Ciaran Quinn who was injured during the game.

Under 14 Division 1 League Clann na nGael 6-10 Roscommon Gaels 3-7

After some ups and downs so far in the league, Clann na nGael finished the group stage games in style with a strong performance in Johnstown last Thursday night. Clann na nGael are likely to face a play off in the knockout stages to attempt to secure a semi final spot.
Clann na nGael looked to have this game in the bag after the first 30 minutes but a spirited effort by Roscommon caused some concern, but Clann na nGael held out to see off the challenge.
Full effort required from the entire squad for upcoming training sessions to prepare for the business end of the season.

Under 12 Division 1 Spring League

St Ciarans 1-5 Clann na nGael 4-16
In very poor conditions in Fuerty, Clann na nGael chalked up a comprehensive victory in their penultimate group stage game. It puts them in a strong position to progress to the knockout stages.
Clann na nGael started well and built up a good lead. St Ciarans came back stronger in the second half but the gap in the scores was too big for them to close. Final game in the group stages is away to group leaders Boyle in a couple of weeks time.

Our Division 4 & 6 teams had a break this week, but back in action in the Spring League in two weeks time. We play Ballinasloe this week in the Walsh cup with a game against Athlone to follow, possibly this week also.

This is the first of five group games so there is still lots of time to recover lost ground.
