Buccaneers President’s Gala Ball

The President’s Gala Ball takes place in the Athlone Sheraton Hotel on Saturday week May 7th starting at 7.30 p.m. The adult team Player of the Year Awards are incorporated in this black tie event and the following players (in alphabetical order) have been nominated in the respective categories:-
Senior:- Ben Carty; Rory Moloney; Cian Romaine.
Seconds:- Ruairi Byrne; Ger Fallon; Rory Grenham.
U-20s:- Conor Kelly; Ben Kennedy; Lorcan Seery.
Womens:- Niamh Gough; Sarah Kelly; Heather Sheridan.

Presentations will also be made to the following Buccaneers players who represented Ireland during the season:-
Ireland Senior:- Robbie Henshaw And Finlay Bealham.
Ireland U-20:- Conor Kenny
Ireland U-18:- Corey Reid

Two new awards are being incorporated this year recognising the stalwart work of underage coaches and mentors. These are the Youths Volunteer and Minis Volunteer awards. The Michael Hanley Memorial Perpetual Cup will be presented on the night to the Buccaneers Clubperson of the Year too.
After dinner, DJ Ray O’Reilly will provide music to get everyone out on the dancefloor. Tickets are €35 each and can be purchased now from our busy Administrator Geraldine in the club and her contact number is 0861732711.

Young Player Of The Year Awards

Meanwhile, the Youth Awards take place in The Lower Deck at The Bounty on Friday week May 6th. Due to the big numbers involved, this event is being divided into two slots with the U-13, U-14 and U-15 players being first up from 6.30 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. The U-16, U-17 and U-18 players will then be honoured from 8.30 p.m. til 10.30 p.m. approx.

The Mini’s Awards are taking place in The Lower Deck on this Saturday, April 30th after the sponsored Cycle which starts from The Bounty and goes on a circuit in the Coosan area returning to the club.

Buccaneers Summer Tag League

Our League gets under way next month for ten weeks. This popular event is for squads of 13 players. Three female players must be on pitch at all times and there are bonus points for tries scored by the ladies. No previous rugby playing experience is necessary for this fun tournament. Condolences

Deepest sympathy is extended to Carol and Martin Kiely and family on the recent passing in Cork of Carol’s mother Anna O’Connor. May she rest in eternal peace.
