Joan Freeman, Founder of suicide and self-harm crisis centre Pieta House, will launch Darkness Into Light 2016 with Electric Ireland in The Bush Hotel, Carrick on Shannon, this evening, Friday, April 1st at 8pm.
Writer Michael Harding will be there on the evening to help launch the events.
Taking place on Saturday, May 7th, Darkness Into Light is a unique, early morning fundraising and awareness event which begins in darkness at 4.15am as thousands of people walk or run a 5km route while dawn is breaking. This year, Darkness Into Light will take place in over 100 locations in Ireland and abroad including the UK, Canada, Australia, the Middle East and Asia.
Locally, the event will take place this year in Roscommon Town, Ballaghaderreen, Castlerea and Carrick-on-Shannon, Athlone and Ballinasloe.
