Roscommon and District Football League Masters Oscar Traynor Cup

Cloonfad United were looking for a minimum of 4 points return for last week’s two fixtures but had to make do with 3 which still leaves us at the bottom of the Premier Division.

On Wednesday night we were well beaten 3-0 by Castlerea Celtic but we scored our first win in months with a win 2-1 victory over MD town on Saturday. Shane Fagan gave us a 1-0 lead from a free kick on 20 mins and Luke McDermott hit the crossbar soon after but MD levelled before half time. Keeper Kurt Reinhdart kept us in the game with some smart saves as MD piled on the pressure. However Cloonfad came more into the game knowing a draw was little or no good to them and Ger Fagan headed the winner from a corner on 76 minutes.

It’s the return trip to Castlerea Celtic this Saturday night were we hope to make more of an impression than last week’s game.

Best wishes to Cloonfad United’s Conor Flynn who is part of the Roscommon Under 16 squad who travel to Almere in the Netherlands to take part in this week’s 2016 Holland Cup.

Lotto jackpot next weekend €4,950 team on duty Dermot Burke and Deirdre Conneely.
