Cartoon Saloon, the Kilkenny based Animation Studio headed up by Boyle native Paul Young, won two Awards at the prestigious Kidscreen Awards in Miami last night.
The Best New Series and Best Animated Series Awards were for their series “Puffin Rock” which is narrated by Paul’s fellow Boyle native Chris O’Dowd. The series follows the adventures of a young puffin named Oona and her little brother Baba as they explore their world. Puffin Rock is a co-production between Cartoon Saloon, Dog Ears and Penguin Books made with the support of the Irish Film Board and Northern Ireland Screen. It was premièred on RTE JR in January 2015 and Nick JR in May 2015. It got it’s worldwide release on Netflix in September 2015.
