National Heritage Week takes place from August 20th to 28th and there is lots of things to do in Roscommon during this time including Castlerea.

From 10.30am – 5.30pm and everyday for the rest of the week between 2pm and 5:30pm in Trinity Arts Centre Castlerea Heritage Forum present Griffith’s Valuation – a picture of Castlerea and its hinterland in the mid 19th Century – an exhibition highlighting the Griffith’s Valuation records for the townlands in the Parishes of Kilkeevin (Castlerea), Ballintober and Baslick as published in 1856/7.

On Wednesday 24th
At 12pm & 2pm in Clonalis House there’s “100 years of Farming at Clonalis” – a talk on the history of farming at Clonalis using archival material and viewing the horse drawn farm machinery.
Also Clonalis House admission is reduced to half price for Heritage Week.
