St Brigids 2-1 Clann na nGael 7-15
The Under 12 division 1 team got their championship off to the best possible start with a comprehensive victory in Kiltoom on Wednesday last. The second half was the period in which Clann took control of the game, with a commanding display, with the teams relatively even in the first half. Impressive work rate and point scoring was the hallmark of this display from the young Clann team and it will give them a degree of self-belief as the competition progresses. Next up is a home game in Johnstown against Strokestown next Wednesday at 7.30pm.

Clann na nGael 1-8 Shannon Gaels 7-4
Our Under 12 division 4 team had home advantage in their 2nd group game and faced a very strong Shannon Gaels team. They say goals win games and this match proved the point. Clann worked very well to create many goal chances, but bad luck and good goalkeeping kept the visitors ahead and a blitz of goals in a short spell in the second half from Shannon Gaels, insured the victory for them. The score line was, without doubt, unfair to Clann, but Clann can take heart from the attitude displayed and they will continue to represent their club with distinction. A very good performance all round, despite the result.

U14 DIV.1 CHAMPIONSHIP
Momentum is a powerful thing and Clann retained their 100% record in the group stages with a strong performance in Woodmount last Thursday evening. This reversed the result of the previous league playoff meeting between the sides earlier in the year and it was clear from the outset that Clann were determined to do themselves justice. Each and every player contributed to the victory. Clann held a 7 point lead at half time, but faced into a strong breeze n the second half, but there was no let up from the team and ran out comfortable winners in the end, over formidable opponents. That is three wins out of three and they face a home game against St Ciaran’s next Thursday at 7.30pm.

U14 DIV.4 CHAMPIONSHIP
An outstanding performance form Clann resulted in a hard fought win in a very entertaining game in Johnstown on Friday evening. Both teams had spells on top and Clann withstood a brave and focused onslaught from Western Gaels. Whilst each and every Clann player excelled, special mention must go to Patrick Moran who produced some top drawer saves, including one from a penalty. The 100% record remains and the boys move on an away game to Kilbride on Monday 18th July.

Strokestown 0-9 Clann na nGael 4-14
Clann came into their long awaited first game of the Minor championship with a little trepidation, with a number of players missing, but a young squad showed a degree of skill and strength in Strokestown that will give them great belief and encouragement for the campaign ahead. Clann rushed off to an excellent start with some early goals and, in truth, maintained a stranglehold on the game to the conclusion. Strokestown fought the good fight, but could not close the gap. The youngsters from the u16 squad were certainly not found wanting and more than held their own. The entire team got the basics right from determined defending to score taking.
This result and display gives the management team a welcome headache as the fight for places will be an interesting battle for the very significant challenges ahead, starting with a home game against St Brigids on Wednesday 20th July.

Clann na nGael C 1-11 St Croans 3-11
Coming near the end of the Adult Football League Division 4 saw Clann play a home game against a strong St. Croans side which featured a mixture of Senior and Junior players and this had a deciding factor on the outcome of this game.
Clann played with a fine spirit and positive style of play and were unlucky to be down by one point at half time (1-4 to 1-5).
St Croans centre half forward Brogan directed and controlled their attack and caused all sorts of problems for Cormac Harney centre half back for Clann. Emmet Rock, Daragh Glynn and Martin Costello worked hard in the middle of the field and Niall Connaughton did well up front, but two well taken goals by Croans mid-way through the 2nd half was a huge blow to Clanns efforts.
Credit goes to Ray Fallon for getting this team together and getting fringe players involved.

The Sheraton Hotel sponsored Senior Ladies face St Brigids in the 3rd game of the championship on Sunday 17th July in Kiltoom. We wish them the best of luck.
U12 GIRLS COUNTY CHAMPIONS
Congratulations to our U12 girls who contested the Division 1A County Final on Saturday 9th July in Kiltoom against their rivals St. Brigids. It was a hard contested game with both teams playing outstanding football. Clann were leading the game at half time with a score of 1-6 to 0-3.
Clann came out very strong in the second half with some good scores. St Brigids fought very hard but the Clann defence proved to be too strong with a final score of Clann 1-9, St.Brigids 1-7. Thanks to the management Marie Kelly, Zoe Shine, Peter Shine and Mark Connell.

CÚL CAMP 2016
A huge crowd of Clann players turned out for the Cúl Camp last week in Johnstown and fun was had by all. Many thanks to the coaches, particularly Ollie Lennon, for their time and effort. Thanks also to Willie Hegarty who facilitated our arrangement with Cúl Camp.
The numbers who turned out is a clear demonstration that the love of the game is flourishing in our parish.
