Congratulations to Damien Regan and Clive Flynn of Boyle Musical Society on winning the “Best Stage Management” Award at last night’s Association of Irish Musical Societies Awards Banquet.
The Boyle Musical Society duo received The Margaret Doherty Trophy for their work on The Wizard of Oz. The Society also won runner-up Awards in the “Best Technical – Lighting, Sets and Sound” and “Best House Management” categories. Grainne Caldbeck was the runner-up in the “Best Comedienne” category for her performance as the “Wicked Witch”.
Castlerea Musical Society’s Julie Heaney was nominated for “Best Female Singer” for her performance as Sarah Browne in Guys and Dolls.
Three Musical Societies outside the county who have Roscommon members were also nominated for Awards. Athlone Musical Society picked up the “Best Programme” Award for “Rock of Ages”.
Nicole McDonald was nominated for “Best Choreography” and the Society was also nominated for “Best House Management”.
St Mel’s Musical Society, Longford were nominated in the same Category for their production of “The Addams Family”.
Ballinasloe Musical Society’s Paul Norton was nominated for “Best Comedian” for his performance as “Max Bialystock” in “The Producers”.
