Roscommon County Council has taken the decision to postpone surveying works on a stretch of the N61 between the N5 junction at Tulsk junction and the R368 Strokestown Road at Fourmilehouse.
The work was due to take place from Monday to Friday next week ahead of an application by the Council to Transport Infrastructure Ireland for permission to carry out major works on dangerous bends.
The intention was to divert traffic via Strokestown during this time however it has since been decided that in order to avoid confusion among motorists facing major diversions at Tulsk Cross, the work would be delayed for a number of weeks and the traffic flow monitored.
In related news, as previously reported Traffic Diversions have begun at Tulsk Cross – the N61/N5 junction as part of Road realignment works at the Ratallen and Runnaboll Townlands and Treanagry and Knockroe Townlands. Road closure signs and structures are not yet in place at Caldragh Cross Roads (N61 junction with L1400/L5651).
