It’s an extremely busy weekend on the Roscommon Sport scene with action at local and national level.

So far we’ve seen Castlerea Celtic defeat MD Town in The Herald Premier Division of the Roscommon and District Football League and two Roscommon men, Denis Buckley and Danny Qualter help cement their place at the top of the PRO12 Rugby League by defeating Edinburgh 28-23. In Gaelic Football Clann na nGael C received a by from Kilglass Gaels B in the Adult Football League Division Four. Back to our preview:

Saturday

If you’re in the mood for a Cycle you’re in luck as the Ronan McCormack Charity Cycle begins at 8:45am from Roscommon Leisure Zone, Lanesboro Road, Roscommon. There are three routes with distances of 60, 80 and 120 km. Registration will close sharply at 8.30am with the cycle commencing at 8.45am sharp. All cycle participants must attend a short pre cycle briefing session in the event Centre at 8.30am.

Fresh from their Connacht title win last weekend the CBS Roscommon Hurlers take on OLSP Belfast in the All-Ireland C Semi-Final at 12:45pm in Iniskeen.

At 2pm the Roscommon Junior Camogie Team take on Kerry in the National League in Tralee.

Staying with Camogie, at 3:15pm the Convent of Mercy Camogie Team take on St. Josephs, Rochfortbridge in the All-Ireland Final.

And tonight there’s one game in the The Herald Premier Division of the Roscommon and District Football League Moore United host Cloonfad United at 7.45pm.

Sunday

At 1pm the Roscommon Senior Hurlers look to extend their winning run when they face Fingal in Athleague and at just up the road at 2pm the Roscommon Ladies Footballers host Fermanagh in Oran

The Roscommon Mens Footballers have an unexpected road trip to Pearse Park, Longford where they will take on bottom side Down – you can read the squad announcement here
