Castlerea Musical Society has been nominated for the “Best House Management” (Mary Kitt Trophy) at the Association of Irish Musical Societies Awards.
The nomination comes on the back of their acclaimed production of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels in February. The society is no stranger to the Awards scene. Last year Julie Heaney of Castlerea Musical Society has been nominated for the “Best Female Singer” (Mary Murray-Ingram Trophy) for her performance as Sarah Browne in Guys and Dolls.
Although Boyle Musical Society received no nominations they have announced that one of their former members, Robert Reid, has been nominated for “Best Comedian” for his performance as Nanki Poo in Corofin Musical Society’s production of Hot Mikado.
Elsewhere, St Mel’s Musical Society, Longford, who have a number of Roscommon members, have been nominated in the “Best Programme” category (Pioneer Musical Society Trophy) for “All Shook up”.
