Boyle Celtic have received another highlight in an historic season by being shortlisted for the FAI Club of the Year Award.
Boyle Celtic got to this stage based on the quality of their on-line application which focused on the areas of Club Management, Coaching, Community, Participation, and Facilities.
Boyle Celtic and the other seven shortlisted Clubs – Tipperary sides Carrick United, Cahir Park and Peake Villa, Evergreen of Kilkenny, Leitrim’s Manorhamilton Rangers, Portlaoise and Cork’s Carrigaline United will go forward to the final round at the FAI Festival of Football in July. There they will present to the 2017 Club of the Year Judging Panel to decide the winner. Each will receive €1,500 for being shortlisted and the overall winner will be given an additional €5,000 and entry to UEFA’s Grassroots Awards in the Best Grassroots Club category.
Last year’s overall winner – Roscommon and District Football League side Shiven Rovers won by demonstrating a massive collective effort from people across their communities in promoting and developing their club. The FAI Club of the Year competition is not just about the biggest club, or the club with the best facilities but it’s about clubs that inspire their communities to get involved in football.
