Tomorrow, Friday May 5th, a celebration will be held in Murrays Bar, Knockcroghery to mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of two-time All-Ireland winning Roscommon Captain Jamesie Murray.
The event, which is being held in the same building where he was born will be a chance to remember the life and times of the proud Knockcroghery man. Among the many talents of Jamesie Murray was singing and his CD, “The West’s Awake”, is being re-issued to mark the occasion. It will be on sale on the night for €10 and all proceeds will go towards the creation of a new seating area on the village green in Knockcroghery. There will be live music on the night from Vinegar Bill and they’ll be joined by a host of local celebrities who will covering songs from the album.
