The Minister of State for Tourism, Patrick O’Donovan has announced that Four Festivals in Roscommon are to receive funding under the Fáilte Ireland 2017 Festivals and Events Programme.
The Boyle Arts Festival has been allocated €3,000; the O’Carolan Harp & Traditional Music Festival in Keadue has been allocated €2,500; the Percy French International Festival in Strokestown has been allocated €2,000 while €1,500 has been allocated to the the Lough Ree International Angling Festival at Ballyleague and Lanesboro.
In welcoming the news Senator Frank Feighan said “Local events and festivals attract many people into the area and entice both locals and visitors to spend. That can mean only good news for rural economies.
“These events are also good from a social perspective too, providing plenty of fun and entertainment for local communities.”
