U.14 Division 4 League: Clann na nGael 2-17 Pearses 4-2
After being closed for a number of days due to weather conditions, the pitch in Johnstown was in fine order last Thursday for the U.14 Div.4 Clann team hosted Pearses in a lively and entertaining contest.
Clann opened up the scoring with a brace of points in the first few minutes, only to have Pearses take the lead with a goal after 5 minutes. Undeterred, Clann kept adding points, punctuated by the odd Pearses response, to leave the home side 7 points to the good at half time.
Second half was a high scoring affair. Clann continuing to amass the points, but Pearses staying in the contest with a series of well taken goals. In the end, Clann held firm to win 2-17 to 4-2. A strong performance throughout, with the entire 24 man panel getting to play, and all contributing well to an enjoyable start to the league.

U.16 Div.1 League: Boyle 3-9 Clann na nGael 3-12
Clann recovered from a poor start to grind out a victory in a tough encounter away to a determined Boyle team. Clann seem to have a habit of falling behind to Boyle in the early stages of recent games and history repeated itself in this fixtures, but at the break Clann had clawed their way back into the contest with a crucial goal from Cian Fallon McGowan together with two points from Fionnán Henry (1 free) and a point each from Fearghus Lennon, Dean Reynolds and Josh Lennon. John Feeney and Alan Mulvey battled well to earn frees and provide assists for the other forwards.
The half time scoreline had Clann trailing 1-5 to 2-4. Clann started the second half brightly and immediately set about reducing the deficit. An early goal from Fearghus Lennon settled the team down and a well taken goal from Mark Gannon put Clann in the driving seat. But true to form Boyle bounced back with a quick fire 1-3 and put the game in the balance again.
Ultimately, an inspired second half, with points from Fearghus Lennon (x2), Fionnan Henry (x3f), Michael Kelly and Mark Naughton, saw Clann secure a deserved, but hard fought victory. A good defensive effort was epitomised by the hard working Patrick Gavin, Jason Ryan, Cian Gavin, Shane Flannery and Cormac Westman. Declan McManus was secure between the posts. Rian Carpenter and Joseph Kelly contributed well when introduced.
Squad: Declan McManus, Cian Gavin, Jason Ryan, Shane Flannery, Daniel Westman, Patrick Gavin, Michael Kelly, Fearghus Lennon, Mark Naughton, Josh Lennon, Dean Reynolds, Alan Mulvey, Fionnán Henry, Kian Fallon McGowan, John Feeney, Joseph Kelly, Mark Gannon, Rian Carpenter, Sean Reynolds, Patrick Moran, Damien Kelly

Junior A League: Clann na nGael B 2-10 Ballinameen 2-7
Clann Junior A team had another good win in the Tansey Cup beating Ballinameen on scorline of 2-10 to 2-07 in Johnstown.
Clann fielded a very young team and got off to great start playing with the wind with some open attacking play and were ahead at half time 1-06 to 0-03 with good scores from Emmet Kenny, Ciaran Lennon slotting some excellent frees and a well worked goal from Niall Connaughton.
In the second half Clann had to dig deep as Ballinameen gave it their all but a strong defensive line of Sean McManus, Niall Shine and Sean Fallon gave Clann a good foothold in second half. Senior O’Rourke Cup: Clann na nGael 1-12 St. Croans 1-14
The Matrix Bathrooms / Monksland Filling Station sponsored Clann na nGael Senior team had their second outing of the year in the O’Rourke Cup against St. Croans in a match played in ideal conditions for mid March in Johnstown.
Clann settled well and had the best of the early exchanges winning a penalty in the first minute which was converted by Johnny Dunning. This was closely followed by a trademark long range point from Cathal Shine and a Ciaran Lennon free after he won the free himself. Cathal Shine once again scored from range before Ciaran Lennon scored three points in succession giving him a personal tally of four points after 15 minutes play.
David McManus and Emmet Kenny scored the final scores of the half for Clann giving Clann a lead of 1-8 to 0-3 points after 20 minutes. However, Clann failed to score for the remainder of the second half and the visitors started to find their feet and scored 1-2 unanswered in the final 10 minutes of the half reducing Clann’s half time lead to 1-8 to 1-5.
The second half is one that the Clann following will want to forget very quickly as they were outplayed and outscored for the entire half. The first score of the half went to Clann through a well taken Killian Bannon point. However St. Croans dominated from then on and scored eight points in succession to go into a four point lead with 10 minutes remaining. Some good scores by substitutes Jamie Fahy (2 points) and Cathal Callinan gave Clann some hope but time ran out for and St Croans ran out deserving winners on a final score of 1-14 to 1-12.
Team: Gary Mannion, Patrick Harney, Ronan Gavin, Shane Pettit, Fergal Lennon, David Flynn, Ciaran Connaughton, Cathal Shine (0-2), Stephen Flynn, Killian Bannon (0-1), Ultan Harney, David McManus (0-1), Jonathan Dunning (1-0 Pen), Ciaran Lennon (0-4 2F), Emmet Kenny (0-1).
