O’Rourke Cup First Round: Clann 1-11 Tulsk 1-09
The Senior team commenced their competitive season with a home match against Tulsk Lord Edwards in the first round of the O’Rourke Cup. The match was played in ideal conditions in Johnstown and the match proved to be a lively affair throughout.
Clann started the liveliest and three points from Cathal Callinan (2 frees) and points from Ciaran Lennon and Cian McManus gave the hosts a 0-5 to 0-2 advantage early on. Clann failed to score again until shortly before half time through a well taken David Connaughton point. This was closely followed by an excellent goal from the ever green Johnny Dunning and a Cathal Callinan point to give Clann a half time advantage of 1-7 to 1-2.
Clann started the second half the strongest and went into an eight point lead thanks to points from Cathal Callinan, Ciaran Lennon, Johnny Dunning and Cathal Shine. Clann however failed to score for the remainder of the game and Tulsk finished the strongest, but time ran out for the visitors and Clann secured a two point victory, final scoreline Clann 1-11 Tulsk 1-9.

MacNamee Awards 2016
The GAA National Communication and Media Awards, the MacNamee awards, are named after the late Pádraig MacNamee, former President of the GAA, Chairman of the GAA Commission (1969-1971) and member of the RTÉ authority. They are presented annually in recognition of outstanding contributions made by individuals and Association units in the area of media and communications.
Clann na nGael’s website, www.clanngaa.ie, received the national award for best GAA Website in 2016.
The award was presented by GAA President, Aogán Ó Fearghail, to Clann na nGael PRO, Eugene Pettit.
