The Shannon System Flood Alliance are hosting a public meeting on the proposed Shannon Basin Restoration and maintenance Programme in the Radisson Blu Hotel, Athlone on Monday January 30th.

The Shannon System Flood Alliance have organised the meeting to coincide with the Shannon Flood Risk State Agency Co-ordination Working Group’s development of a plan for strategic maintenance works on the River Shannon. The planned programme would complement the Group’s Work Programme and the specific measures that are identified for the areas at risk in the Draft Shannon Flood Risk Management Plan, within the €430 million Capital Investment Plan 2016 to 2021.
The meeting on 30th January will discuss the proposed maintenance works and related issues.
The speakers will include

– Padraig Joyce, Irish Farmers’ Association (IFA)
– Jer Buckley, Irish National Flood Forum (INFF)
– Barry Kehoe, Westmeath County Council
