Roscommon County Council has published its draft 2017 Speed Limit Bye-Laws which aim to improve Road Safety by establishing lower speed limits on certain roads and in built up areas.
A 30km Speed Limit has been proposed for a number of Housing Estates and special Time Specific Speed Limits have been proposed for five Primary Schools which are located on National Primary and National Secondary Roads. These include Carrick N.S. Ballinlough, St. Mary’s N.S., Ballanagare, at Clooneyquinn N.S, at at Cloverhill N.S and at Tulsk N.S.
The draft Speed Limit Bye-Laws are available for inspection from Monday to Friday, during normal office hours, from now until Thursday February 9th inclusive.
They can be viewed at the following locations in County Roscommon:

– Athlone MD Office, Monksland, Athlone.
– Ballaghaderreen Area Office, Courthouse, Ballaghaderreen.
– Boyle MD Office, Cootehall Road, Boyle.
– Castlerea Area Office, Courthouse, Castlerea.
– Strokestown Area Office, Bawn Street, Strokestown.
Objections may be submitted in writing to Eugene Dwyer Senior Engineer, Head of Roads and Transportation,
Roscommon County Council, Áras an Chontae, Roscommon, F42 VR98
or e-mailed to [email protected] at any time during the inspection period above.
The latest date for receipt of objections is 4pm on Thursday February 9th
