Updated at 6pm. The deceased has been named as 37 year old Carrickmacross native Patrick McCaffrey.
A man was killed overnight following a landslide on Kilronan Mountain, on the Roscommon-Sligo Border near Ballyfarnan.
It is believed the man and his colleague were working on the site of a Wind Farm in the Derrysallagh
area of Kilronan Mountain when there was slippage of land at around 6:30pm yesterday evening. A search and rescue operation was hampered by foggy weather in the area. The man’s body was recovered at approximately 2:30am but he was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was taken to Sligo University Hospital for a postmortem.
Gardaí and the Health and Safety Authority are investigating the incident.
