A public meeting will be held in Durkin’s Bar and Restaurant, Ballaghaderreen this Wednesday, October 19th, to debate how a €440,000 community fund should be used to benefit the locality.
The money was raised by the people of Ballaghaderreen over the past 30 year and had originally been earmarked for a Swimming Pool.
In April the Minister of Sport Michael Ring announced that the town had been allocated €500,000 for a community project. The project to be funded, is to be agreed between Roscommon County Council and the local Community. The grant was awarded after Roscommon County Council withdrew, voluntarily, from the Local Authority swimming pool programme.
Consultant John Higgins, will facilitate Wednesday’s meeting.
