Roscommon County Council have announced that two Sections of the N61 Roscommon to Boyle Road will now remain closed until December 12th to facilitate realignment works.
The sections in question are from Caldragh Cross Roads, Elphin (junction with L1400/L5651) to the junction with the R370, at the 4 Provinces Public House, and from the 4 Provinces Public House to Knockarush Cross Roads. The R370 Carrick on Shannon to Frenchpark Road has remained open during this time.
Last year a license was granted which facilitated the closing of the sections from Monday November 9th 2015 for a period of 12 months. However, due to a delay at the contract signing stage enabling works only began in March 2016. The sections of the Road were closed to the public since April 4th and it was expected that works would still be completed by November 9th.
Work is believed to be progressing well, with a Tarmacadam Plant in place.
