Last night Netflix released the first trailer for its new comedy film “Mascots”, staring Boyle native Chris O’Dowd.
Mascots is a new comedy from Christopher Guest, creator of “This is Spinal Tap” and “Best in Show”. It takes place in the ultra-competitive world of sports mascots where they compete for the most prestigious award in their field, the “Gold Fluffy” Award. Chris O’Dowd stars as “The Fist” who is known as “the bad boy of sports mascotry”. Check out the trailer below:
Mascots will have its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on Saturday week, September 10th and will start steaming globally on Netflix from October 13th.

Chris O’Dowd has been a very busy man lately. “Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children” a dark fantasy adventure film directed by Tim Burton, is set for release later this month.
He is currently filming “God Particle”, a science fiction thriller, produced by J. J. Abrams. The plot of the film centres on a team of astronauts aboard a Space Station who find themselves alone after a scientific experiment causes Earth to disappear. “God Particle” is set for release in February 2017.
It is also being rumoured that he is set to play the lead character in the TV adaptation of “Get Shorty”.
