Independent Councillor Domnick Connolly is calling on the OPW to act faster in order to prevent more major flooding problems in Roscommon this winter.
“With regard to the flooding and the ongoing debate about what should be done to address the situation, the Office of Public Works are proceeding far too slowly. People want to see action to prevent more disastrous flooding happening in the county this coming winter. The CFRAM reports have been completed but no action has been taken yet and local people in a number of the affected areas are fearful of what might happen this winter, and with good reason too” said Councillor Connolly
Domnick Connolly continued “Roscommon County Council has done all it can to alleviate problems in various affected areas but much more needs to be done by the various outside agencies. One thing is certain, if we get even half the rain this coming winter that we got last winter then there will be huge problems again in the county unless something is done. I am calling on the Minister responsible, Sean Canny, to issue an immediate statement on what is being done in preparation for this coming winter.”
