Roscommon County Council has announced it’s intention to close a section of the R368 between Elphin and Carrick on Shannon for over three weeks in July to facilitate Road Improvement Works.
The section of the road in question is from the junction with R368/R369 (Elphin / Bishop Street Junction) to the R370/R368 junction (Cortober / Carrick on Shannon Railway Station Junction). The road improvement works will take place at Ballindrehid / Killummod townlands, close to “The Tatch” Pub.
The closure will come into effect on Monday July 3rd and will remain in place until Friday 28th July.
The following alternative Routes are proposed:
Traffic travelling Northbound will be diverted in Elphin to the N61, before turning right at the Four Provinces Pub – signposted R370 Carrick on Shannon. Traffic will reconnect with the R368 at the Carrick on Shannon Railway Station / Cortober Junction. Traffic travelling Southbound will be directed via the reverse route.
Objections in respect of the proposed closure may be made in writing to Eugene Dwyer, Head of Roads and Transportation, Roscommon County Council, Áras an Chontae, Roscommon by 5pm on Wednesday June 14th.
