Fine Gael Senator Maura Hopkins has said that it is “very positive” that the Department of Social Protection Offices in Roscommon Town are to be upgraded to an Intreo Centre.
The Departments services are currently divided between the Branch Office in Abbey Street and the Control Office in the Government Buildings, Convent Road.
Commenting on the news Maura Hopkins said “The new upgraded office will now be based in the ground floor of Government Buildings, Convent Road, Roscommon Town. It will provide a full service for jobseekers and will enable them to access income supports and employment supports in the one location”.
Senator Hopkins stated, “My colleague, Minister for Social Protection, Leo Varadkar TD has informed me that the new Intreo Centre will be in operation from Monday, May 22nd which will deliver all Department Services.”
“Services which will be available include, jobseekers and other claims; community welfare service; activation and employment programmes; PPSN’s and Public Services Cards along with base for Social Welfare Inspectors.”
Senator Hopkins concluded by stating, “All existing customers of the Roscommon Branch Office have now been informed of the change, it is very positive that service users will be able to avail of all income and employment supports in one location.”
