Cloonfad United 3-0 Dysart
The season ended on a winning note for Cloonfad United as they claimed the Division One Cup yesterday evening (Saturday) with a 3-0 victory over Dysart. After only 9 minutes Shaun Kearney beat the Dysart offside trap and raced on goal to open the scoring. Cormac Costello made two great saves to keep Cloonfad ahead and Stephen Cunningham hit the post from a free just before half time.
Cloonfad United were under a lot of pressure early in the second half and Dysart struck the woodwork again with a long range effort. The introduction of Conor Flynn on the hour mark swung the tide in Cloonfad’s favour. Flynn’s running at the Dysart defence created plenty of scoring chances and he soon set up Connor Freely to make it 2-0. Shortly after Cunningham was fouled in the box but Flynn’s penalty struck the crossbar. A brilliant free kick from Andy Glennon made the game safe on 79 minutes.
Well done to all.
