Western Gaels GAA Club are hosting Play for Paul – a charity match in honour of Paul Higgins at Nash Park, Frenchpark, on Sunday June 4th at 3pm.
Paul Higgins, from Ballinagare, sadly passed away on April 19th 2017 after a fifteen year battle with Cancer. He was an inspiration and an influential figure in his personal life and also on the pitch. He is survived by his wife Maggie and children Amie, Katie, Jack and Ryan.
Paul played for his club team Western Gaels; the Roscommon Under 21 team and he also captained the Erin Go Bragh Senior team in Birmingham.
The match will will see an over 30’s selection take on an Under 30’s team. These teams will include current and past County stars including Fintan Cregg, Sean McDermott, Cathal and Nigel Dineen, Ciaran Cafferky, Cathal Shine and Kevin Higgins, just to name a few.
It’s guaranteed to be a great day out with under age teams playing at half-time and also entertainment for all the family on the day. A follow up after-party and monster raffle (tickets sold in local shops and also on the day) will be held in The Chariot Bar in Frenchpark starting at 9pm. Proceeds from the day’s events will go to the Mater Oncology Ward.
