Headline act Nathan Carter will perform the official opening of the Kepak All Ireland Sheep Shearing & Wool Handling Championships 2017, organisers have confirmed.
The weekend-long event will be officially opened by the country music star before he takes to the stage in the festival marquee on the grounds of St. Brigid’s GAA Club, Kiltoom, on Friday 2nd June.
A strictly limited number of tickets for his performance are currently on sale locally priced at €25 and are expected to sell out quickly.
Nathan Carter is regarded as something of a sensation in Ireland outselling One Direction, Pharrell Williams and Michael Buble. He also became the first country act to reach number one in the Irish charts in 2013 after Garth Brooks, six years before. He continually packs out venues on the Irish country music scene and Kiltoom is expected to be no different as he kicks off the 2017 All Ireland Sheep Shearing Championships in style.
The weekend-long championships will be hosted in conjunction with the Irish Sheep Shearers Association on the grounds of St. Brigid’s GAA Club in Kiltoom, and are expected to attract large numbers of visitors and benefit local businesses throughout the area.
The weekend promises to be a spectacle not to be missed with over 200 competitors shearing 2,200 sheep across 19 different categories in two days of intense, international competition. Large numbers of spectators are expected to flock to the venue and, in addition to the sheep shearing competitions, there will be a range of other attractions including nightly entertainment in a fully-licensed bar, children’s activities, arts and crafts, artisan food, heritage features, sheep shows, sheep dog trials, trade stands, cookery demonstrations and a food quarter.
