The Roscommon Hurlers suffered a 24 point drubbing at the hands of London in Round 2 of the Christy Ring Cup in Dr Hyde Park earlier this evening.
The damage was done in the first half when London clocked up 3-17 to Roscommon’s 0-4. The four Roscommon points came from Robbie Fallon; one from play and one from a free, a Padraig Kelly point from play and a Shane Curley free.
Roscommon continued to find it difficult to break down the London defence after the interval but they did get three of the first four scores. Padraig Kelly pointed in the 37th minute, Shane Curley got his second in the 43rd and Johnny Coyne found the net five minutes later. Fallon and Curley added further points and Eoghan Costello also got on the scoreboard but they were cancelled out by the visitors. Shane Curley added Roscommon’s final point of the evening in the 66th minute but a moment later London rubbed further salt in the wounds with a fourth goal. Final score Roscommon 1-10 London 4-24.
Roscommon will face Mayo in a Relegation Play-off on May 20th. They suffered a 5-18 to 2-7 defeat to Carlow.
