Tansey Cup: St Barrys 1-13 Ballinameen 1-16

St Barry’s Adult Men’s team lost out to Ballinameen in a rip-roaring Tansey Cup Division 3 League game in Ballinameen this evening. Ballinameen got off to a great start, scoring a goal and a point in the opening minutes. They held this lead through the first half, leading 1-8 to 0-7 at half time. 2 early points after half-time put the home team in the box seat, but a brilliant goal from Ray Rogers spurred a St Barry’s comeback, and they dominated the general for long periods of the second half. St Barrys levelled the game with 9 minutes to play from an Alan Callaghan free, but it was to be our last score, as Ballinameen finished strongest, scoring 3 late points without reply.
Team: Tadhg Devlin, Barry Brennan, Trevor Murtagh, Sean Gannon, Ray Rogers(0-5), Ronan McGowan, Philip Casserly, Joey Keenan, David Keenan, James Bennett Jnr, Finbar McGowan(0-5, 3 frees), Diurmuid Walsh, Anthony McGowan, Martin Guildford, Alan Callaghan(0-7,5 frees)

U 16’s going well:

Our Under 16 Lads beat Western Geals at the weekend, thus qualifying for the final of the Division 3 League.
Our Under 16 Girls have qualified for the Division 3 Championship Semi-final, and they play Eire Og on this Bank Holiday Monday, May 1st.
Well done to both groups, and good luck in the upcoming games.

Ladies Continue Good Form:

St Barry’s Adult Ladies had to work hard to overcome a dogged St Dominic’s in their Ladies Division 3 League clash in Knocrocery today. An early goal from Lisa Murtagh got Barry’s off to a good start, but St Dominic’s came into the game, and approaching half time, the scores were level. The game turned when a speculative shot from Denise Bennett found the net, and the girls added a series of points before half time to open up a seven point lead. The second half was dominated by St Barrys, and they ran out convincing winners in the end, on a scoreline of St Barrys 4-11 St Dominics 0-10.
St Barry’s: Rebecca Cox, Rita Hagan, Geraldine Farrell, Denise Bennett(1-0), Aoife Mcloughlin(0-1), Jane McGowan, Emer O’Callaghan(1-4), Emer Burke(0-3), Nadine Murphy(0-1), Grainne Gaynor, Lauren Bannaghan, Amy Cousins, Lisa Murtagh(1-2).
