Roscommon Camogie Round-up: Juniors book Semi-Final spot

Mixed fortunes for Roscommon Camogie teams

The weekend saw our Minor panel travel to Kilbeggan to play Carlow in the Minor ‘C’ All Ireland Final on the hottest day of the year so far. Unfortunately, lady luck did not shine on John Benton’s charges on the day. However, contesting the second Minor All-Ireland Final in three years bodes well for Roscommon Camogie with many of these girls still underage next year.

The Junior team hosted Clare in Athleague on Sunday in the final round of the Littlewoods National League Division 3; this game having previously been postponed twice due to inclement weather conditions. The Roscommon girls gave a good account of themselves achieving their second win of the League on a scoreline of 2-13 to Clare’s 1-12.

Club Round-up

Our U14 Féile Championship fixtures sponsored by ‘The Oak Dental Practice’, Ballaghaderreen, are almost up to date at this stage as Padraig Pearses and St Dominics got around to playing their Round 2 fixture this week, a game that was won by St Dominics. Results from Round 4 during the past week saw Four Roads defeat Padraig Pearses and saw Roscommon Gaels get the better of Athleague. Oran and St Dominics were to play but that Round 4 game did not take place and will be refixed. The final round’s (Round 5) fixtures for Tuesday included Athleague at home to St Dominics, Four Roads at home to Oran and Roscommon Gaels to host Padraig Pearses. Once all results are in teams will get their placings and playoffs will take place if necessary on 15th April before semi-finals on Tuesday 18th April.

The ‘Get Active, Get Healthy’ Spring League Round 1 games previously postponed have been refixed for 29th April so we will have another week or two before we see our adult teams in action.
