Following this morning’s surprise strike* by Irish Rail workers Rail users in Roscommon are advised of planned schedule changes tomorrow – Saturday April 1st.
The schedule change will affect Irish Rail users travelling on the Dublin Heuston line and has been created in order to facilitate line improvement works on the Dublin to Cork line.
Services between Galway and Dublin Heuston will operate every two hours in each direction.
Westport services will operate to/from Athlone with connections to/from Galway services.
People who intend travelling from Castlerea or Roscommon station should note the following time changes.
The 7:15am Westport to Dublin Heuston Train will leave at the earlier time of 6:35am. This will result in a 7:38am departure from Castlerea, a 7:58am departure from Roscommon.
On arrival in Athlone customers will have to change train and connect with the Galway – Dublin Heuston train which is due to depart Athlone at 8:32am.
The 1:10pm Westport to Dublin Heuston Train will leave at the earlier time of 12:40pm. This will result in a 1:43am departure from Castlerea, a 2:03pm departure from Roscommon.
On arrival in Athlone customers will have to change train and connect with the Galway – Dublin Heuston train which is due to depart Athlone at 2:49pm.

Irish Rail have pencilled in a series of dates for planned maintenance / upgrade works however, the exact lines to be affected will only be confirmed nearer the time. The dates are as follows:
